And welcome to twenty-sixteen!

With every new year comes an opportunity to set a new resolution. Or if you’re one of the many who don’t make it past January with their new self-promises in tact, you’re probably rehashing unresolved ones for a 2^nd, 3^rd, or dare I say 4^th attempt to actually achieve it (I for one have been here…..).

To say I will make it a resolution to find someone in 2016 would be an odd thing though. Goodness knows if I’ve remained single this long, there really isn’t that much of a rush to jump into a relationship. And certainly, I don’t want to make it to New Year’s Eve 2016 on the arm of someone who fits the bill of ‘male companion’, simply because I’ve pressured myself to fulfil a task, which realistically, I only have 50% (give or take) control over. I’d like to think the steps that I am currently taking are about creating opportunities to meet someone interesting, rather than being a certified route to becoming someone’s girlfriend.

It’s been six weeks now since I properly threw myself into the online dating game and the experience so far has been…..eye-opening, to say the least. So much so, I’ve not allowed myself the time to get out the posts that have been clogging up my head.

I’ve spoken to a bunch of guys, blocked one, almost met with another, and actually did have my first coffee date with yet one more. It’s not been too bad a start, and as tempting as it is, I won’t squeeze everything into one post. Partly because there’s just no fun in doing that, but mostly, I feel some of the topics warrant their own space for expansion. So I’ll be sure to do better at making sure these follow promptly.
